The Vilani Hypothesis

In 1997, as the result of a lengthy IRC conversation with a few friends, I hit upon the idea for an epic, two part, multi-generational spanning pair of campaigns, based upon the Imperial search for the answer to the origin of the various human races.

Any Traveller devotee is quite familiar with the origin myth of Traveller, the "Solomani Hypothesis." The Hypothesis basically states that the various races of humaniti, major (Vilani, Solomani, Zhodani), and minor (too many to list) originated on a single homeworld. The Solomani Hypothesis advances the theory that the other major races originated on Terra/Sol, and were transplanted on Vland, Daryen, Zhodane, etc. approximately 300,000 years ago by a mysterious race known as the Ancients.

However, in year 0, the Solomani Hypothesis hasn't happened yet. A number of anthropologists, archaeologists, historians, and philosophers are looking for, thinking about, and speculating on whether there is a single home world (although most serious scholars agree on this much). A lively debate has occurred in the scientific community over what this homeworld is.

The Vilani Hypothesis focuses on one such scientist, his love for his homeworld (Vland), and his belief, bordering on that of fanaticism, that only Vland can truly be the original homeworld of all mankind. Armed with funding by the AAB, and supported by the Imperial Scouts, this scientist searches the worlds of Vland sector, and surrounds, in an attempt to prove or disprove his theory, the Vilani Hypothesis.

Vilani Hypothesis is an adventure designed and oriented around a Scout/Scientific expedition in Vland sector. With 39 fully developed NPCs/pre generated PCs, design your own scenario rules, and a complex political background, Vilani Hypothesis provides the opportunity for months, perhaps even years of gaming. 12 months of research into archaeological method, as well as real life archaeology and anthropology research add a touch of depth present only in some of the old Keith Brothers adventures, and a number of full color maps add even more to the enjoyment.

Coming Soon: In it's original T4 format, and converted for use with MegaTraveller rules.
